Ms M lives in a charming property split over two floors in a popular and busy part of Greenwich, London. She was very organised as she originally approached us for advice before she completed the purchase of the property! Clients often like to contact us whilst they are going through the legal process of buying a house and we are always happy to help with opinions and advice, so this is something we would encourage.
It was clear that the windows were rotten and needed to be completely replaced. However, Ms M was not sure how easy this would be to achieve given that the property is a listed building. The previous homeowner had applied for planning permission and been refused.
Upon initial discussions, we informed the client that we offer a bespoke planning service whereby we can take the stress and hassle out of submitting a planning application to the local council. This is a particularly time-consuming process in relation to listed buildings. One of our office team works full-time on nothing but Wandsworth Sash Windows planning applications.
As soon as Ms M was given keys to her new home, she arranged a site visit for one of our surveyors to inspect the windows and discuss the work with her in person. We do not wish to pressure clients to make a decision on the day of the site visit, so we always email the official quote in writing a few working days later.
The client contracted us to apply for planning permission with Greenwich Council on her behalf. Listed building consent was granted for complete new timber box frames to be fitted with ultra-slim Fineo glass. The council approval camenine weeks after the application had been validated. We are pleased that our professional approached achieved the desired result.
The sash window work itself was also very important. Most of the windows are in a Georgian bar six-over-six design with six panes in the top sash and six panes in the bottom sash. This design was expertly recreated by our craftsmen in the workshop. We have three separate British-based workshops; in East Sussex, in Essex and in the New Forest. Fineo glass is manufactured in Belgium in a state-of-the-art factory and then shipped to us.
When the work was completed it represented a serious upgrade on the original windows, whilst also remaining faithful to the traditional elements and designs. The Fineo glass used works excellently in conjunction with the windows.
The client was so pleased that both her and her partner left us reviews online!
