At Wandsworth Sash Windows, our focus is on doing what is right for our customers. We will assess all windows on an individual basis and advise you on the best approach depending on their quality and condition.
Sash window repairs are not easy and need to be carried out by an expert. All of our window repairers and installers are experienced carpenters, meaning they have a full understanding of a window’s construction. With us, your sash window repair project will run smoothly and within budget.
Sash window technology is getting better all the time. If you have older sash windows, chances are the installers didn’t have access to the high-quality insulation materials we use today. We can refurbish your sash windows using modern materials to make them as efficient as possible.
Older sash windows suffer from poor insulation mainly in the staff and parting beads used. This means heat escapes through the sides of the windows.
Untreated rotten timber will cause future increased damage to your sashes as it will spread. Rot usually starts from the bottom and works its way up. It causes the sashes to fall apart and not operate correctly.
The main source of heat loss through a window is through the glass itself. Ill-fitting or broken panes means there is no barrier from inside to outside at all and leads to a cold breeze running through.
Draughts mean sash windows are not as well-insulated as they should be. If there are too many draughts then some level of repairs or replacements should be considered.
Locks are designed to make sashes secure. Without them someone from outside could fall out of the window or the property could become prone to theft. Good locking systems also help bring the sashes closer together so the window is overall better insulating.
Damaged sashes are a security concern. If they are left without being repaired then the damage could get worse.

We repair sash windows as part of our draught seal and overhaul service. This is our most basic service offering, where we will carry out maintenance on existing sashes and frames.
What will the repair process involve?
Before carrying out any work on your property, we will conduct a full assessment to see how we can help you. When you get in touch with us, we will first arrange an initial survey where a member of our team will look over your property and windows to work out the scope of the project. We can then make recommendations for your sash window renovation project, including repairs, draught proofing and overhauling.
Here are some of the ways in which we can improve your existing sash windows during our repair process:
We are always careful not to alter the appearance of your sash windows – unless you want us to, of course! We make sure they are in keeping with the look and character of your property, maintaining its period charm. We will leave your windows looking refreshed, renewed, and with greatly improved energy efficiency.
As standard we do not include any painting work with our draught seal and overhaul service. However, we can also add this if requested.

The cost of the repair work depends on the extent of repairs required and the overall outcome you are looking to achieve. Speak to us about your specific requirements and we can guide you.
This again depends on the amount of work required. For us, it takes about 3-4 hours on site to carry out a window overhaul.
Our overhaul service includes new sash cords, new ironmongery and new staff and parting bead. We do not include any painting within this service.
That depends on the condition of your windows before we start work, but it should add a number of additional years.
