Mr H’s apartment is located on the top floor of a handsome white stucco period residence. Given the historical importance of Mr H’s building it was necessary to submit a planning application with Westminster Council. The client took advantage of the Wandsworth Sash Windows bespoke planning service. This means we did all the necessary admin, form-filling and communication with the council.

We managed to get the planning application over the line and Westminster Council gave us the green-light to fit 4 new pairs of timber sashes into the existing box frames of the windows glazed with ultra-efficient Fineo glass. All sashes had a glazing bar design which matched the originals as this was a strict requirement of the council. This is called our Sash Replacement service. The thermal-efficiency of a window is based on its U Value. The lower the U Value the better. It is estimated that a single-glazed sash window has a U Value of 4.0 – 4.5. The centre-pane U Value of Fineo glass is 0.7. This therefore represented a serious upgrade on the thermal insulation of Mr H’s windows.
