Address: Morris Road, Lewes, BN7
Service: 2 angled bays with complete new timber box sash windows installed on both the ground floor and second floor with Fineo glass used
Job value: £20,000 – £25,000
At this property the client wanted us to completely transform the front façade. The existing windows in place were UPVC plastic casement windows with small top openers. We were asked to quote to replace these windows with new timber sliding sash windows in angled bays.
Ms L’s home is located in the Lewes Conservation Area and only a 10-minute drive from our East Sussex workshop. It is clear that there would be important requirements from the local council when replacing the windows. Given that we are experts in providing bespoke windows this was no problem for us.
The client initially enquired with us for slim-line 12mm thick double-glazed glass. However, Fineo glass has some major benefits in comparison to 12mm slim-line double-glazed glass.
- Often slim-line units will have a relatively short guarantee period from the manufacturer of just a couple of years. Whereasthe manufacturer of Fineo glass provides an excellent 15-year guarantee.
- The thermal-efficiency of a window is based on its U Value. The lower the U Value the better. It is estimated that a single-glazed sash window has a U Value of 4.0 – 4.5. The centre-pane U Value of slim-line 12mm thick double-glazed glass is normally around 1.5. however, the equivalent U Value of Fineo glass is 0.7.
- Fineo glass has us even thinner than 12mm double-glazed units. Fineo glass is only 7.7mm thick.
On that basis, Ms S proceeded with our quoted Complete Replacement service with Fineo glass to be used throughout. For more information on our Complete Replacement service please follow this link – LINK.
The result was a fantastic transformation, and the customer was very pleased.
